I paid about £110 for these headphones and I can not find any fault at all regarding sound quality. But WHY, on such an expensive piece of kit, do they have a cheap, easily breakable plastic clip to attach the lead to your person? Needless to say, within a week I was left with a broken piece of plastic and a dangling lead. Even a cheapo set of Creative Labs headphones I bought previously had a metal clip. They were a damn sight more uncomfortable to wear and the sound wasn’t quite as good, but they are still intact! Anyway, that is a slight niggle with an otherwise wonderful piece of audio equipment. They are the most comfortable set of ‘phones I have ever worn. Solidly built (apart from the clip) and able to fit the largest of heads! Again, the sound quality from both the speakers and the microphone is second to none. If Amazon’s rating system would allow half-stars, these would have got 4.5.

I like these earphones. The earphones have spongy bits that fit the ear canal snugly, which helps keep the outside noise levels low. Sound quality is perfectly acceptable. Only drawback I think the cable could be a wee bit longer. So if you are very tall and like to keep your mp3 player in a trouser pocket or low hanging bag this might prove difficult. However, for the price I would say very good overall.

I grew up when cable releases were metal plungers and cost a couple of pounds. This High-tec device only does one more thing -it has an equivalent of partially depressing the shutter, just like you can on the camera. You need this if you are using autofocus, especially if you like the confirmation of a focus lock beep. If you own a good quality tripod for your Canon DSLR then this piece of kit is essential to prevent that little bit of camera movement you get when depressing the camera shutter.

At the end of the day it’s just a cable-release. But it works fine, and if this is the one your camera needs (20D,30D 40D, and maybe 50D)then you may as well get one to stuff in your gadget bag, otherwise when you really need it…
